This goes back to the original launch of the game, which was pushed back by a year from 2020 to 2021, to the way that both Season 1 and Season 2 were stretched out for 6 months, to core features for the Halo franchise like co-op and Forge being delayed, a dearth of new DLC maps compared to previous games, and generally getting the balance wrong with cosmetics, customisation and monetising a free-to-play game. I think we can all appreciate that game development is hard, that roadmaps and development timelines are often wild guesses about what might be vaguely possible, but 343 Indutries has consistently missed the mark, and this new Halo Infinite roadmap simply emphasises that. In a quote (via IGN), 343 Industries says, “In order to improve and accelerate ongoing live service development, and to better address player feedback and quality of life updates, we have reallocated studio resources and are no longer working on local campaign split-screen co-op.” But the real kick in the teeth for fans of the franchise is that 343 Industries is breaking a promised return of local split-screen co-op. ![]()
